Same stuff different day. It’s not looking grand for the Pittsburgh basketball team this season, and the downward trend continued its ugly ways in the Panthers third-straight defeat, second in conference.
Cincinnati took out the Panthers 66-63 on Sunday at the Petersen Events Center.
Jaquon Parker led all scorers with 21 points and Sean Kilpatrick added 19 points and six rebounds to pace the Bearcats.
Nasir Robinson led the way for Pitt scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Ashton Gibbs scored 18 on 7-15 shooting.
People are finally realizing just how helpful a guy like Khem Birch was. His energy trickled down to every one of his teammates. His running of the floor, offensive rebounding and energy was a huge source of energy for the Panthers this season.
It’s showing in a big way now.
Pittsburgh is looking like an average team right now. I’m not ready to write them off yet, but Jamie Dixon has his work cut out for him. They better get it turned around because Marquette, Syracuse and Louisville back-to-back-to-back is coming up in the middle of January.
It could be a long year for Dixon and company.
