Pitt Football Becomes Bowl Eligible With 33-20 Victory over Syracuse
Pittsburgh Panthers football became bowl eligible after their 33-20 victory over the visiting Orange of Syracuse.
At 6-6, the Panthers will likely accept any bowl offer on the table. Any time money is involved, of course that will be the final decision.
Pitt was outgained in yardage (345-333), was -5 minutes in time of possession and was only 4-14 on third down. But, the Panthers were the more discipline team.
Syracuse (5-7, 1-6 Big East) struggled with penalties (10 for 95 yards) and especially turnovers (six). Those two categories will cost you games no matter how well you do in other areas. You can’t turn the ball over six times and expect to win.
Pitt should thank the Orange for being so undisciplined. If they weren’t, Pitt would be going home for the holidays. But, we will wait and see, for now.
Tino Sunseri went 25-34 for 259 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
Kevin Harper, Pitt’s kicker, scored 15 points in the game. He was the Panthers best offensive weapon.
